Lt. Joe Lemanek Surprises Daughter at Capitals Game

U.S. Navy Lieutenant Joe Lemanek surprised his 8-year old daughter with his return from deployment in the Middle East during the Capitals game against the New Jersey Devils on Sept. 27 at Capital One Arena.

U.S. Navy Lieutenant Joe Lemanek surprised his 8-year old daughter with his return from deployment in the Middle East during the Capitals game against the New Jersey Devils on Sept. 27 at Capital One Arena.

Lemanek, who has been in the Navy for 15 years, is currently serving as the Deputy Information Warfare Commander for Amphibious Squadron EIGHT based in Little Creek, Virginia. Lemanek is returning from his deployment with the USS Bataan Amphibious Readiness Group. In addition to his latest deployment, Lemanek has also served seven other tours of duty to Afghanistan, the Western Pacific, the Middle East and the Northern Atlantic. 

For his service, Lemanek has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals (2 awards), and the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (5 awards) among various other campaign and unit awards.

After the game, the Capitals invited Lt. Lemanek and his daughter to the locker room to meet with players.
