Fourth Episode of Caps Red Line Sits Down With Joel Ward and Discusses His Role with Washington’s Youth Hockey Players

ARLINGTON, Va. – Caps Red Line (CRL) presented by GEICO is back for its fourth season with Episode 4 on Comcast SportsNet on Saturday, March 3, at 9 a.m. The fourth episode of this fast-paced, behind-the-scenes show offers an inside look at Capitals forward Joel Ward as he embraces his role model status to today’s youth hockey players. Each episode will also be replayed on Comcast SportsNet and through the “On Demand” feature where available. A new episode will air every Saturday at 9 a.m. on Comcast SportsNet through March 31.

Returning for another season with CRL is Elliot Segal from Elliot in the Morning, Professor Lou Bloomfield, Ph.D., along with host Guerin Austin. Fans can watch archived episodes or stay up to date with the show on the Caps Red Line webpage on and the Red Line Channel on Caps365. CRL won the 2010 Emmy Award for Outstanding Program Achievement for Sports – Programming Series, by the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS-NCCB).

Elliot Segal looks back at when Alex Ovechkin went shopping to pick out toys for the Toy Drive with Comcast SportsNet’s Alan May. Watch as Elliot captures May recommending some new clothing options for Ovechkin that don’t go over particularly well.

The Season
CRL will go behind the scenes with new Capital Joel Ward. Watch as he discusses his involvement with the Fort Dupont Ice Hockey Club and how proud he is to show the Washington, D.C., area that everyone can play hockey. Ward recognizes the importance of being a role model for today’s minority youth hockey players and talks about how he used to look up to former NHL goaltender and current NHL Network analyst Kevin Weekes when he was growing up.
