The Washington Capitals have announced the winners of the Caps Care Click to Win initiative for Feb. 26. Hyde Leadership Public Charter School in Washington, D.C., Maryvale Elementary School in Rockville, Md., St. Anne’s School in Annapolis, Md., and The SEED School in Washington, D.C., were each selected to receive tickets to the Tuesday, Feb. 26, Capitals game against the Minnesota Wild at Verizon Center. Each school also will receive a $500 grant and the school with the highest attendance at the game will receive an additional $1,000 grant.
Caps Care Click to Win is a new community relations initiative that gives local schools the chance to win free Capitals tickets and cash prizes. The program is part of the team’s commitment to introduce area youth to hockey and to support local nonprofits with charitable contributions.
Between January and April, a total of 40 Washington metropolitan area schools that have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and have registered at WashingtonCaps.com will be selected through a random drawing to receive tickets and a $500 grant. The Capitals will distribute a select number of tickets for schools at eight home games during the season. Five schools are selected for each game. At the conclusion of the program, the school with the highest attendance rate overall will also receive a player visit, Capitals team-signed jersey and a new set of street hockey equipment.
