Dev Camp Day Four: Connor Hobbs' Blog

My team struggled a little bit in the three-on-three tournament yesterday. We placed fifth out of the six teams and missed making it into the playoff bracket—definitely not our best showing. Thankfully we didn’t get dead last. We won the “Server’s Bowl” game against the other non-playoff team to avoid having to serve supper to the rest of the boys later that evening, so I guess that’s all that mattered for us in the end.

I just hung out and watched a little bit of TV last night. My roommate Nick Lappin and I prefer to use our down time to relax and get ready for the next day of camp. Lappin’s a good guy, and I’ve had a lot of fun rooming with him. He scored some nice goals yesterday in the three-on-three. We watched Shark Week again—some show about deep water sharks, the sharks you don’t usually get to see, I guess. Pretty cool.

We had yoga this morning and a good little workout. I’ve actually never done yoga before. It was pretty cool—lots of deep breathing and lots of stretching. It definitely helps out with the sore legs. Our instructor told us to take it pretty easy and only go about 70 percent with the stretching. I’m looking forward to getting on the ice today. It sounds like we have a really good practice lined up; I hear we’re going to practice a lot of 2-on-1’s. There should be some good battles.

Everybody’s pretty pumped for tomorrow’s scrimmage. It should be a lot of fun to get out there and try to play a game. Mingo and I are going to be paired up there. I think we’ve had quite a bit of chemistry in practice so far. I have no idea what the goaltending situation is going to be tomorrow, but I don’t think it really matters because all four of the goalies are pretty good. It should be a fun game, that’s for sure.
