Defenseman Lawrence Nycholat Named CCM Vector AHL Player of the Week

Canadian AHL-All Star Pulls in three Goals and Seven Points to Win League Honors as Bears Travel to Norfolk for Games Wednesday and Friday
Hershey, PA – January 23, 2006 – The HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League that defenseman Lawrence Nycholat has been named CCM Vector AHL Player of the Week for the period ending January 22. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.
Nycholat picked up four points in the first period on Friday in Philadelphia by scoring two goals and assisting on two others. He followed up the four-point effort with a goal and an assist Saturday against Portland, and then assisted on the game-winning goal Sunday as the BEARS swept the first place Pirates in a two-game series. The Calgary, Alberta native is the first HERSHEY player to earn league player of the week honors since Shane Willis received the award February 1, 2004. Nycholat along with teammate Eric Fehr will skate for the Canadian AHL All-Star team at the Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic January 31-February 1 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
