BALTIMORE, MD - Sticks were tapping, kids were cheering and there was an aura of competitiveness in the air as the Washington Capitals hosted their seventh annual Baltimore Street Hockey Tournament in August. More than 150 children from eight Baltimore area community centers participated in the contest.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation teamed up with Playworks, Washington, D.C., to host its annual "Hockey Extravaganza" at Bunker Hill Elementary School in northeast D.C. on May 16.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation teamed up with Playworks, Washington, D.C., to host its annual "Hockey Extravaganza" at Bunker Hill Elementary School in northeast D.C. on May 16. Nearly 70 students from Playworks partner schools participated in learn to play hockey drills taught by the Capitals' street team and games led by Playworks coaches. Capitals alumni Alan Hangsleben, Paul Mulvey and Errol Rausse, as well as Capitals mascot Slapshot, played games with the students and helped teach important hockey and teamwork skills during the drills.
