ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals are honoring military, homeland security members, the police force, firefighters and other first responder services on Heroes Day at Training Camp, Friday, Sept. 21, at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.

The Capitals practice from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Friday and all local heroes are encouraged to watch practice and show their professional pride by wearing apparel that promotes their branch of service.

SportsTalk 980’s Feldman and Maloney Show will broadcast live from Kettler Capitals Iceplex from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and lunch will be provided to all heroes courtesy of Front Page from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. From 3-4 p.m. the Capitals will host a heroes-only autograph session. A valid identification card or badge is needed to receive lunch and to get autographs.

Heroes in attendance will also be offered an exclusive audience with vice president and general manager George McPhee from 2:15 p.m.-3 p.m. This is an informal session where the heroes can pick the brain of an NHL general manager and ask McPhee about his thoughts on the upcoming season.

The day culminates with a heroes skills challenge from 3-4 p.m., where heroes from each service branch will participate in an NHL All-Star Skills Challenge on the ice at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
