WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 20, 2005 – The Washington Capitals have signed center Joey Tenute to a multi-year contract, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced. Tenute, 22, has averaged a point per game for the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season.
A native of Hamilton, Ontario, the 5’9”, 180-pound Tenute has six goals and eight assists in 14 games for the Bears, who have earned at least a point in 11 consecutive games. Originally selected by the New Jersey Devils in the eighth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Tenute spent last season with the South Carolina Stingrays, Washington’s ECHL affiliate, and posted 75 points (34 goals, 41 assists) in 68 games.
Hershey is 10-3-2-3 (25 points) on the season and stands second in the AHL’s East Division. Tenute and the Bears host the Cleveland Barons Wednesday in Hershey.
