Capitals Sign Forward Jay Beagle to Entry-Level Contract

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have signed forward Jay Beagle to a two-year entry-level contract beginning next season, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.


Beagle, 22, has posted 32 points (18 goals, 14 assists) in 54 games in his first season with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Prior to his time in Hershey, Beagle played for the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL, skating in eight games and notching 10 points (eight goals, two assists).

A 6’0”, 201-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, Beagle played two seasons of college hockey at Alaska Anchorage before beginning his professional career. He recorded 30 points (14 goals, 16 assists) in 67 games from 2005-2007 with the Seawolves.
