Capitals Sign Defense Viktor Dovgan

Seventh-round pick from 2005 draft plays for South Carolina in ECHL


WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Capitals have signed defenseman Viktor Dovgan to a three-year entry-level contract, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
 
Dovgan, 19, was the Capitals’ seventh-round choice, 209th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He is currently skating for Washington’s ECHL affiliate, the South Carolina Stingrays, recording one goal and one assist (two points), a +1 rating and 39 penalty minutes in 22 games this season. A 6’1”, 205-pound native of Moscow, Dovgan will turn 20 on Feb. 27.
