ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Semyon Varlamov from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Varlamov (SEHM-yahn var-LA-mohv) has played three games in Hershey since being assigned to the Bears Nov. 10. He has posted a 2-1-0 record, including a 4-3 victory against Hartford yesterday.
Varlamov is 0-1-0 in two appearances with the Capitals this season with a 2.91 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage. He missed 12 games due to injury prior to being assigned to Hershey.
The 6’2”, 207-pound native of Samara, Russia, was Washington’s first-round selection, 23rd overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
