ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Sean Collins from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Collins, 27, has played in seven games for Hershey this season, registering one goal and one assist and six penalty minutes. He currently leads the team in plus/minus (+5). Last season, Collins recorded 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) and led Hershey with a +29 plus/minus rating in 73 games. The 6’1”, 205-pound native of Troy, Michigan, appeared in four regular-season games with Washington, recording a goal, and played in one playoff game.
The former Ohio State Buckeye has appeared in 19 career NHL games, all with Washington, and has collected three points (two goals, one assist) and 12 penalty minutes. He was originally signed as a free agent by the Capitals on March 17, 2007.
Collins, who wears number 62, will be available for today’s 11:30 a.m. practice at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
