Capitals Recall Mathieu Perreault

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled center Mathieu Perreault from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.


Perreault is a second-year pro who stands 5’10”, 174 pounds. The Drummondville, Quebec, native has played in 18 games for the Capitals this season and has two goals and five assists. He made his NHL debut at New Jersey on Nov. 4 and had two assists and recorded his first NHL goal on Nov. 7 against Florida. He was the first Capital since Alex Ovechkin to record two points in his NHL debut. The Capitals selected Perreault in the sixth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft with the 177th overall selection. Perreault, who wears No. 85 with Washington, is eligible to play today against Calgary.

Perreault, who helped lead Hershey to a Calder Cup championship last season, has 15 goals and 30 assists in 55 games for the Bears this season.
