ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Liam O'Brien from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.
O'Brien, 22, has registered two points (one goal, one assist) in 13 career games with the Capitals. The 6'1", 215-pound forward made his NHL debut on Oct. 9, 2014 against Montreal and earned his first NHL point with an assist on Oct. 14, 2014 against San Jose. O'Brien scored his first NHL goal on Oct. 26, 2014 at Vancouver. He signed with Washington as a free agent on Oct. 6, 2014.
O'Brien has recorded 18 points (5g, 13a) in 28 games with Hershey this season and ranks third on the team in penalty minutes (48), sixth in assists and seventh in points. O'Brien recorded a career-high three points (2g, 1a) on Dec. 30 against Bridgeport and has registered five multi-point games this season. Last season, he set career highs in goals (7), assists (9), points (16) and games played (59). The Halifax, Nova Scotia, native has earned 42 points (16g, 26a) in 132 career AHL games with Hershey.
