WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Jeff Schultz from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Schultz, 20, is in his first professional season and has played four games with the Capitals. The 6’6”, 224-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, has played 35 games for the Bears, recording one goal, six points, a +11 rating and 33 penalty minutes. Since his previous stint with the Capitals, appearing in games from Dec. 22-27, Schultz has played eight games with the Bears, recording one goal, three points, a +3 rating and 11 penalty minutes.
Schultz will be available for tonight’s game at the Carolina Hurricanes (7 p.m., Comcast SportsNet; SportsTalk 980) and would wear No. 55.
