WASHINGTON, D.C. - November 4, 2005 - The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Jakub Klepis from Hershey of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced.
Klepis, 20, is eighth on Hershey in scoring with seven points (one goal, six assists) in 10 games. A Prague, Czech Republic, native, who twice represented his home country in the World Junior Championship, Klepis is poised to make his NHL debut. The Capitals acquired Klepis on March 9, 2004, from Buffalo for Mike Grier.
Klepis’ recall gives Washington 14 first-round draft picks on its roster and 12 players who were born in the 1980s. He follows in the footsteps of countryman Tomas Fleischmann, who made his NHL debut last night in Philadelphia.
