Washington, D.C. – April 12, 2006 – The Washington Capitals have recalled center Dave Steckel from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced.
Steckel, 24, has 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists) in 74 games with Hershey this season, including four shorthanded goals and two power-play goals. The 6’5”, 215-pound center was signed by the Capitals as a free agent on Aug. 25, 2005. A former first-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2001 Entry Draft, Steckel has played five games for the Capitals this season. He made his NHL debut Dec. 31 against Philadelphia.
