Capitals Recall Brooks Laich, Assign Boyd Gordon to Hershey
WASHINGTON, D.C. The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Brooks Laich (LIKE) from Hershey of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced.
Forward Boyd Gordon was assigned to Hershey to make room for Laich, who is tied for fifth in the AHL in goals with six. Laich leads Hershey in scoring and ranks tied for eighth in the AHL with 10 points (six goals, four assists) in seven games.
Laich had a pair of two-goal games last weekend and has at least a goal in four of his last five outings. The 23-year-old Wawota, Saskatchewan, native was acquired via trade from Ottawa Feb. 18, 2004. He has appeared in five career NHL games; one with the Senators and four with the Capitals. He had 26 points (16 goals, 10 assists) in 68 games with the AHL’s Portland Pirates in 2004-05.
Gordon had appeared in all nine games thus far for the Capitals, who face Buffalo tomorrow night in Rochester, N.Y
