Capitals Prospect Mike Green Named to AHL All-Rookie Team

Washington, D.C. – April 5, 2006 – Hershey Bears defenseman Mike Green, a first-round pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2004 Entry Draft (29th overall), was named to the American Hockey League (AHL) All-Rookie Team.

In 52 games with the Bears this season, Green has seven goals and 29 assists for 36 points, ranking 10th on the team and third in the AHL among rookie defensemen. He has a plus-2 rating with 79 penalty minutes with Hershey. Green has one goal and two assists in 22 games over two recall stints with the Capitals this season.

Green is the first Capitals prospect ever named to the AHL All-Rookie Team, which was started in the 1996-97 season. Current Capital Rico Fata was on the 1999-00 AHL All-Rookie team.
