Capitals Players' Wives and Girlfriends Raise Nearly $9,000

by Staff Writer / Washington Capitals
The Washington Capitals players’ wives and girlfriends raised $8,950 for Washington Capitals Charities through their Thanksgiving gift basket silent auction at Verizon Center on Nov. 17.

The Capitals players’ wives and girlfriends created six gift baskets that each included an autographed jersey; signed pucks and player cards; a Capitals hat, T-shirt and mini hockey stick; Thanksgiving-themed items; players’ favorite Thanksgiving recipes; and much more. Capitals center Jakub Klepis lent his support by signing autographs for fans at the auction table during the second intermission.

The gift basket with Alex Ovechkin’s jersey earned the top bid, selling for $2,000. The gift basket with Caps captain Chris Clark’s jersey was not far behind, selling for $1,850. Thanks to all the fans who participated in the silent auction, keep checking the website for the Caps players’ wives’ and girlfriends’ next fundraiser!
