Capitals Players Attend Rod Bower Charity Game

Andrew Cassels and Jeff Halpern Visit Rockville Ice Arena

Washington, D.C. – December 31, 2005 – Washington Capitals forwards Andrew Cassels and captain Jeff Halpern attended the second annual Rod Bower Charity Game Friday, Dec. 30, at Rockville Ice Arena. Cassels and Halpern signed autographs, took pictures with fans and dropped the ceremonial first puck before the start of the game.


The Rod Bower Charity Game honors the memory of Rod Bower, a hockey player who played in the Montgomery Youth Hockey Association (MYHA) and for Walter Johnson High School. Bower died in a car accident in 2004 at the age of 17.

The annual charity game benefits MYHA and Walter Johnson High School Alumni. Slapshot, the Caps mascot, was also in attendance, and autographed Alex Ovechkin and Olie Kolzig Capitals jerseys were auctioned off at the game.
