Capitals Players Attend National Capital Purple Puck Tournament

Matt Bradley and Brent Johnson Visit Fort Dupont Ice Arena
Washington, D.C. – December 30, 2005 – Washington Capitals right wing Matt Bradley and goaltender Brent Johnson attended the 13th Annual National Capital Purple Puck Tournament Thursday, Dec. 29, at Fort Dupont Ice Arena in Southeast Washington, D.C. Bradley and Johnson presented plaques and the tournament trophy to Bishop O’Connell, who defeated Georgetown Prep to win the varsity title, 2-1, in triple overtime. Bradley and Johnson also signed autographs and dropped the ceremonial first puck before the start of the junior varsity championship game featuring Fort Dupont and Bowie.
“It's great to see so many kids playing the game,” said Bradley. “It's a treat for us to be able to spend some time with some young fans who are so obviously passionate about hockey.”
Teams participating in the junior varsity tournament included T.C. Williams, O’Connell, Fort Dupont and Bowie. Gonzaga, St. Mary’s, Queen Anne, SSSA, Howard, St. Alban’s, O’Connell, Sherwood, Hayfield, Woodson, Georgetown Prep and Bullis participated in the varsity tournament.
