) to introduce "Caps Twackle," a new section of WashingtonCaps.com specifically for Capitals fans who are users of the social media platform.
will identify and collect all Twitter messages or "Tweets" about the Capitals and display them in one location for Washington fans to enjoy. Fans who have their own profiles on Twitter will be able to log into their accounts from Caps Twackle and join the constant conversation by directly replying to comments posted or sharing their own thoughts and opinions.
A leader in technology among professional sports franchises with success on the Web 2.0 and social media fronts, the Capitals are the first NHL team to offer Twackle to their fans. The Capitals currently enjoy a Twitter following of more than 1,500 fans and consider Caps Twackle to be the next logical step in encouraging a broader conversation about the Capitals among Twitter users.
Twackle is the first service incubated out of Octagon Digital, a standalone division of Octagon Athletes & Personalities started in 2008 with the goal of developing consumer facing online communications properties and services focused on the sports vertical.
