#CapsBruins Postgame Notebook: Thunder In The Third

Caps win 11th straight game over B's, scoring four times on their final seven shots of the night as Chiasson strikes twice in third

by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / WashingtonCaps.com

Caps winger Alex Chiasson scored twice in the third period, including a shorthanded breakaway goal that proved to be the game-winner. With six goals on the season, Chiasson is halfway to matching his total of a dozen goals from 2016-17 when he was with the Calgary Flames.

by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / WashingtonCaps.com

A little over seven years ago, Caps goalie Braden Holtby earned his first NHL victory in his first NHL appearance - a relief effort - defeating the Boston Bruins. Holtby has not stopped being a thorn in Boston's side since, and he notched yet another win over the B's on Thursday night in Boston, a 5-3 victory.

#CapsBruins Skate Shavings: One And Done

Caps look to make this one go to 11 as they take on the Bruins in Boston

by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / WashingtonCaps.com

Washington makes its second one-game road trip of the week and the second of its two trips to Boston where it will take on the Bruins on Thursday night. The Caps eked out a 3-2 win here on Nov. 4 in the only prior meeting between the two clubs this season.

Tom Wilson scored twice for the Caps in that game in Beantown last month, sandwiching those goals around a single Alex Ovechkin marker to support Braden Holtby's 31-save efforts in the Washington nets. The two sides will meet again in Washington on Dec. 28 to close out their 2017-18 season's series.

#CapsAvs Postgame Notebook: Bounce Back

Caps bounce back to beat Avs, Backstrom and Beagle lines double team Avs' top trio, Caps get offense from the defense, more

by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / WashingtonCaps.com

The Caps came into to Tuesday's game with the Colorado Avalanche smarting on two fronts. Washington played poorly in a 3-1 loss to the New York Islanders in Brooklyn a night earlier, a divisional loss that halted the Caps' four-game winning streak. And in their previous meeting with Colorado in Denver last month, the Avs carved the Caps up, 6-2.

Caps Bounce Back with 5-2 Win Over Avs

Five different Caps find the back of the net and Holtby stops 22 for his 17th win of the season as Washington downs Colorado

by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / WashingtonCaps.com

On Monday night in Brooklyn, the Caps turned in a subpar performance that resulted in a 3-1 loss and the end of a four-game Washington winning streak. A night later Washington took the ice against the Colorado Avalanche, a team that destroyed the Caps in Denver last month, 6-2.

Seeking a strong bounce-back effort on both of those counts, the Caps were successful. They downed the Avs by a 5-2 score on Tuesday night at Capital One Arena to earn their 12th win in their last 14 home games.

#CapsAvs Skate Shavings: Quick Stop

Caps come home to host Avs, hope to put forth better effort and performance than they managed against Avs last month in Denver

by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / WashingtonCaps.com

Washington went 8-2-0 over a recent 10-game stretch in which it played nine of those 10 games at home, but this week's schedule brings some travel into the Caps' world. They spent Monday night in Brooklyn, where their four-game winning streak came to a stop at the hands of the New York Islanders.

Tuesday night finds the Caps right back home to host the Colorado Avalanche, and Washington will take to the road again on Wednesday, heading to Boston where it will face the Bruins on Thursday. The week concludes for the Caps with one more home game, on Saturday night against the Anaheim Ducks.

#CapsIsles Postgame Notebook: Streaks Stopped

A pair of Caps streaks die in Brooklyn on Monday night as Orlov takes lead among Caps blueliners in goals

by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / WashingtonCaps.com

Washington had a pair of four-game winning streaks snapped on Monday night in Brooklyn at the hands of the New York Islanders. The Caps carried a four-game winning streak into Monday's game, and the 3-1 loss they suffered to New York obviously put the brakes on that winning run.
