ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals are proud to introduce Caps Care Click to Win, a new community relations initiative that gives local schools the chance to win free Capitals tickets and cash prizes. The program, which resides on WashingtonCaps.com, is part of the team’s commitment to introduce Washington, D.C., area youth to the sport and to support local nonprofits with charitable contributions.
Between January and April, 40 Washington metropolitan area schools that have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and have registered at WashingtonCaps.com will be selected through a random drawing to receive game tickets and a $500 grant. The Capitals will distribute a select number of tickets for schools to the following eight home games at Verizon Center:
Tuesday, Jan. 15 vs. Ottawa, 7 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 31 vs. Montreal, 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 26 vs. Minnesota, 7 p.m.
Monday, March 3 vs. Boston, 7 p.m.
Wednesday, March 12 vs. Calgary, 7 p.m.
Sunday, March 16 vs. Boston, 3 p.m.
Tuesday, April 1 vs. Carolina, 7 p.m.
Thursday, April 3 vs. Tampa Bay, 7 p.m.
For each of these games, five schools will be selected and each will receive a $500 grant along with tickets. The school that has the highest attendance rate at the game that night will receive an additional $1,000 grant from Washington Capitals Charities. At the conclusion of the program, the school with the highest attendance rate overall will also receive a player visit, a Capitals team-signed jersey to display in the school and a new set of street hockey equipment.
All eligible schools must register at WashingtonCaps.com. Winners will be announced on the site, so students, teachers and administrators should check in often to see if their school has been selected. The five winning schools for the Jan. 15 game will be announced on Friday, Jan. 11.
Organizations only can register once and only can be selected once per season. Schools must be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits. All winners will be recognized on WashintonCaps.com and on the video board at Caps games.
The Washington Capitals would like to thank the organizations and individuals whose support made the Caps Care Click to Win possible.
