WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Capitals joined forces with Comcast SportsNet, DC101 and the Marine Corps Reserve for their annual Toys for Tots toy drive Dec. 9 at MCI Center, and Caps fans made the event an overwhelming success.
“The toy drive was a huge success; we collected more than 2,000 toys and $250 in cash donations,” said Gunnery Sergeant Michael Abragan. “On behalf of the Toys for Tots program we appreciate all of the help that we received from the Washington Capitals and the fans that attended the game.”
Capitals fans filled two HMMV’s, a seven-ton tactical truck and a government passenger van with thousands of brand new toys. Every fan that donated a toy received a free Olie Kolzig poster. This is the sixth year the Capitals have hosted the Toys for Tots toy drive with the Marine Corps Reserve.
