Capitals Casino Night Raises More Than $302,000 for Charity

Hundreds of Caps fans helped Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation and the Washington Capitals raise nearly $302,400 for charity at the seventh Capitals Casino Night presented by Leonsis Foundation on Jan. 4 at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md.

Casino Night featured the entire team along with coaches and alumni participating in casino games with fans. There also was a raffle and silent auction featuring game-used equipment and autographed memorabilia as well as a live auction featuring interactive experiences with Capitals players and coaches.

The money raised will benefit Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation. Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the professional teams under its umbrella: the Washington Capitals, Mystics, Valor and Wizards and Baltimore Brigade. MSE Foundation is committed to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and focuses on the following five pillars to maximize its impact and engagement with the community: youth basketball, football and hockey; education and scholarship; pediatric health and fitness; military and veterans' affairs; and hunger and homelessness.

Doors opened at 6 p.m. and attendees were able to mingle with the entire team along with coaches and alumni in the ballroom casino, which featured blackjack, craps, roulette, Texas hold 'em and slots.
Some of the most popular auction items at the event included:
$16,000: Who You Gonna Call?Join forwards Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Devante Smith-Pelly and defenseman Dmitry Orlov to help Venkman, Spengler, Stantz and Zeddemore capture Slimer, the Librarian and Stay Puft and flush them from the city before it's pandemonium! Four fans will join the Caps players at Escape Room Live in Georgetown to see if you can you help save New York City.
$14,000: Strike! Hit the lanes with Capitals forwards Andre Burakovsky and Jakub Vrana, defensemen Madison Bowey and Christian Djoos and goaltender Philipp Grubauer. Five fans will bowl with these Caps players at Pinstripes DC in Georgetown. The group will enjoy bowling plus appetizers and drinks courtesy of Pinstripes.
$6,600: Wine Tasting Experience. Four fans will enjoy a wine tasting at Dirty Habit DC with forward Alex Chiasson, defensemen John Carlson and Brooks Orpik and goaltender Braden Holtby. Appetizers and cheeses will be provided with a sparkling wine, white wine, red wine and a dessert wine. Staff will provide details and tasting notes for each wine.
$5,800: Aim High. Four fans will take a learn-to-shoot course and hone their clay shooting skills with forwards Nicklas Backstrom and Jay Beagle and defensemen Taylor Chorney and Matt Niskanen at Bull Run Shooting Center in Centreville, Va.

Top Capitals silent auction items included a game-worn jersey autographed by Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin ($3,050), a T.J. Oshie canvas print ($1,825), a Welcome Your Washington Capitals Experience ($1,200) and a 2016-17 Autographed Caps Victory Puck Set ($1,000). Top items overall in the silent auction included a Las Vegas Showstopper experience ($3,350), a Puntacana Resort & Club Caribbean Paradise Experience ($3,350) and a Nashville Unplugged Experience ($2,850).
