WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 17, 2006 – The Washington Capitals have assigned left wing Tomas Fleischmann to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Fleischmann, 22, played in seven games, posting one assist and two penalty minutes since his second recall stint on Nov. 4. The third-year professional was the Bears’ leading scorer in the playoffs last season, posting 11 goals and 21 assists (32 points) in 20 games as Hershey won the Calder Cup. He led the Bears in goals (30) and ranked second in points (63) in just 57 AHL games last season, one of only four of the AHL’s top 40 scorers with fewer than 60 games played.
A 6’1”, 190-pound native of Koprivinice, Czech Republic, Fleischmann is second among Hershey Bears in scoring with eight goals and six assists for 14 points in seven games this season. The Bears host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers tomorrow at GIANT Center at 7 p.m.
