WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 14, 2007 – The Washington Capitals have assigned goaltender Frederic Cassivi to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Cassivi played in four games for the Capitals this season, posting a 0-1-1 record and 2.59 goals-against average since being called up from Hershey on Feb. 17. The 31-year old netminder started one game for the Caps at Toronto (March 6) and also saw action against Florida (Feb. 27), New York Islanders (March 3) and Atlanta (March 12).
The Sorel, Quebec native has appeared in 28 games with Hershey so far this season, posting a 15-7-4 record and 2.55 goals-against average. A 12-year professional, Cassivi has appeared in 13 NHL games in his career with Washington and Atlanta.
