by Staff Writer / Washington Capitals
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Capitals today assigned five players - forwards Jared Aulin, Chris Bourque, Eric Fehr, Jakub Klepis and Dave Steckel - to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, and defenseman Jeff Schultz to Calgary of the Western Hockey League, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced.

The moves bring Washington's preseason roster to 29 players: two goaltenders, 11 defensemen and 16 forwards. The roster will need to be trimmed to 23 players by opening night (Oct. 5), when the Capitals face the Columbus Blue Jackets at MCI Center at 7 p.m.

The Capitals continue their 2005 preseason schedule taking on the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. and the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.  Both games will be played at the Capitals home arena, the MCI Center. Those games - and all preseason games - will be broadcast live on, and Friday's game will be televised by Comcast SportsNet.
