Capitals Assign Alexandre Giroux and David Steckel to Hershey

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 7, 2007 – The Washington Capitals have assigned left wing Alexandre Giroux and center David Steckel to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Giroux has played four games with the Capitals this season; Steckel has played three.
Giroux leads Hershey in scoring with 56 points (35 goals, 21 assists) in 54 games, while his goal total ranks second in the AHL. He leads the team and ranks second in the league with a +28 rating.
Steckel has 43 points (22 goals, 21 assists) in 56 games for the Bears this season. He ranks fourth on the team in scoring, tied for second in goals and second with a +22 plus/minus rating (which is tied for fifth in the AHL).
