Rookie Camp begins at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. The five-day camp culminates with a game against Philadelphia Flyers rookies at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. The game against Philadelphia is also free, but a ticket will be needed to gain admission. To secure a ticket, fans will need to RSVP at WashingtonCaps.com. Registration is open now, but since seating is limited there is a maximum of two tickets per person, and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A ticket will gain fans admission to the game, but because of seating limitations it does not necessarily guarantee a seat.
Rookies will be off the ice by 1 p.m. everyday, but the on-ice action will continue at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, as veterans who have returned to the area early will skate informally from 1:15-3:30 p.m. from Sept. 14-17.
Formal on-ice sessions of Training Camp will begin Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m., and Washington will play its first preseason game at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Carolina. The Caps open their home preseason schedule the following night at 7 p.m. when Carolina visits Verizon Center.
This marks the Capitals’ second Training Camp at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the Metro-accessible, inside-the-Beltway practice facility that features two NHL-sized rinks. All on-ice sessions at Rookie Camp and Training Camp – like every Capitals practice at Kettler Capitals Iceplex – will be open to the public and free of charge.Washington Capitals Practice Schedule Page
