Capitals Acquire Second-Round Draft Pick for Jeff Friesen
/ Washington Capitals
Washington, D.C. – March 9, 2006 – The Washington Capitals have acquired a second-round draft pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in exchange for left wing Jeff Friesen, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
The Capitals had acquired Friesen on Sept. 26, 2005, from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a conditional draft pick in 2006. He had three goals and four assists (seven points) in 32 games with the Capitals.
With Anaheim’s second-round selection, Washington now has four picks in the first two rounds of the 2006 draft – both of its own, Anaheim’s second-round pick and Boston’s second-round pick (previously acquired, along with another pick, in exchange for Michael Nylander).
