Capitals Acquire Colin Forbes from Carolina for Stephen Peat

Washington, D.C. – December 28, 2005 – The Washington Capitals have acquired forward Colin Forbes from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for forward Stephen Peat, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced.
Forbes returns for his second stint with the Capitals, with whom he originally signed as a free agent, Jan. 8, 2002. The 6’4”, 224-pound New Westminster, British Columbia, native has played in 108 games over five seasons in the NHL, recording five assists and 394 penalty minutes. Forbes, who has notched 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points in 34 games with the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, will be assigned to the Hershey Bears, the Washington Capitals’ AHL affiliate.
Peat played in 130 career games with the Capitals over four seasons. He recorded eight goals and two assists (10 points) and 234 penalty minutes in that time. Anaheim’s second-round choice, 32nd overall, in the 1998 Entry Draft, Peat was acquired from Anaheim in exchange for a fourth-round draft choice in the 2000 Entry Draft, June 1, 2000.
