Washington, D.C. – March 31, 2006 – An online auction featuring an Olie Kolzig goalie mask and a Washington Capitals game-worn Kolzig jersey from the 1994-95 season raised more than $13,000 for Athletes Against Autism and Washington Capitals Charities. The auction was the final part of a fund-raising effort that began with the “A”mazing Auction Night held by Washington Capitals players and their wives earlier this month.

The mask sold for $10,537 and the jersey sold at $2,500. The “A”mazing Auction raised $52,877 for a grand total of $65,914. Proceeds from both auctions benefited Washington Capitals Charities and Athletes Against Autism.
One of the beneficiaries of the event, Athletes Against Autism, was co-founded by Capitals Kolzig. An initiative of Cure Autism Now, Athletes Against Autism was organized to raise awareness and funds for autism research, treatment and family support programs.
