Capitals 2005 Training Camp To Open Sept. 13
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 30, 2005 – Fans can welcome the Washington Capitals back to the ice at the first day of 2005 training camp on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the team’s practice facilities at Piney Orchard Ice Arena in Odenton, Md. Practices begin at 9 a.m. with the first of three groups of players taking the ice. All on-ice workouts will be open to the public and free of charge.
 
Washington’s schedule includes eight preseason games and a three-day stint – Sept. 25, 26 and 27 – in which training camp will move to the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa., home of the Capitals’ AHL affiliate Hershey Bears. Times for those practices, which will also be open to the public and free of charge, are yet to be determined. Sunday, Sept. 25, the Capitals will face the Pittsburgh Penguins in a preseason game at the Giant Center.
 
Washington’s eight games begin Sept. 16 in Raleigh, N.C., against the Carolina Hurricanes at 7 p.m. The Capitals play three home games in the preseason at the MCI Center: Sept. 21 vs. Buffalo, Sept. 30 vs. Pittsburgh and Oct. 1 vs. Philadelphia. The Friday, Sept. 20 game will be broadcast by Comcast SportsNet, the first time a Capitals preseason game has been televised in the region.
 
The Capitals open the 2005-06 regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 5, against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the MCI Center at 7 p.m.
