WASHINGTON, D.C. - August 15, 2005 - The Washington Capitals have re-signed right wing Stephen Peat, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Peat, 25, was selected 32nd overall (second round) by Anaheim in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired from the Ducks in exchange for a fourth-round draft choice June 1, 2000. The 6' 3", 230-pound native of Princeton, B.C., has played three NHL seasons and totaled eight goals, two assists (10 points) and 232 penalty minutes in 129 games.
