Alex Ovechkin, Alexander Semin to Take Part in Capitals Cup MSHL Championship Finals

Caps forwards to present tournament trophies to local teams, drop ceremonial puck

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Washington Capitals forwards Alex Ovechkin and Alexander Semin will take part in the inaugural Capitals Cup Maryland Scholastic Hockey League (MSHL) Championship Finals on Monday, Feb. 26, at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel, Md. The evening will feature two high school championship matchups in the Public School Finals (5 p.m.) and the Private School Finals (7:30 p.m.). Admission to the tournament is $5 per person. Steve Kolbe, radio voice of the Washington Capitals and Mike Vogel, senior writer, will provide an audio broadcast of the games available on the team’s web site,

Ovechkin and Semin will present the Capitals Cup trophies and championship hats to players from the winning team in the public school bracket, as well as take part in the ceremonial puck-drop prior to the Private School Finals.
All Capitals Cup championship teams will be recognized on Youth Hockey Day, Sunday, March 18, when the Capitals take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at Verizon Center at 1 p.m.
