by Staff Writer / Washington Capitals
As many of you know I am a big movie fan and I try to go to the movies as often as I can. The problem is that once I get there, sometimes I have a hard time leaving. Unlike other people, I will stay for two movies, and at the odd time, three movies if time allows. I will literally buy two or three tickets and then spend the day at the theatre.

I have always been a real movie buff and it is one of the things I have always done. Growing up as a family, we always went to the movies together, and I love taking my family to the movies when the kids are in town.
On Fridays, I will read the reviews in USA Today, but they do not necessary sway me one way or the other to go to a certain movie. In fact, sometimes I will go in spite of the review. The Hangover had a terrible review, but was a good movie. Couples Retreat had a terrible review, but everyone I talked to said it was funny, so you want to go and see those movies to decide for yourself if they are good or bad.
When the team is on the road, there are a few good places to see a movie. In Carolina and Florida, we stay real close to a theatre so if time permits then I almost always try to go to a movie there. New York City is another place, as our hotel is connected to a movie theatre.
It is funny though, because even when I am at the movies, I am still thinking about hockey. Every movie I watch, I am checking to see if there are any emotional or inspirational lines that I could use in a pump-up video for the team. If there are, even if it is a little snippet, then I put it in the back of my mind and make sure that we use that clip at some point.
If we are on the road, then I go by myself. I sit in the middle of the theatre and make sure to get myself a Diet Coke and popcorn. I like the whole essence of going to the movies – the previews, the food, everything about it. One thing I will not do on the road is watch a movie in the hotel room. I have no interest in doing that.
I will see almost any genre of movie and enjoy comedies, dramas and musicals. Right now, I want to see The Blind Side, and I would love to go see 2012 because those special effects look amazing. Movies like Paranormal freak me out. Ever since I saw The Exorcist in 1973 I have not been able to see any of those kinds of movies because it scared the heck out of me.
