The Washington Capitals College Hockey Combine & Fair, driven by AAA, is an opportunity for high school aged hockey players in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia to showcase their on-ice talents and learn about the different avenues and opportunities in college hockey.

The 2020 College Hockey Combine & Fair, driven by AAA, will take place on Sunday March 29, 2020 at MedStar Capitals Iceplex between 7:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Athletes registering to participate must be between the ages of 13 and 17 and/or a freshman through senior during the 2020-21 school year.

The day is comprised of three main elements:

 
 

On-ice and off-ice testing

ON-ICE TESTING:

  • Speed - Forward and backward sprint, with and without puck
  • Agility - weave drills with puck
  • Transition - cross transitional drills (right and left)
  • 20-minute on-ice drill testing
    • Multiple offensive and defensive drills including shooting, passing, and live goalies
  • 25-minute 5v5 scrimmage with live goalies

OFF-ICE TESTING:

  • Standing broad jump
  • Medicine ball press
  • Vertical jump
  • Grip strength
  • 3-cone test

INFO PANEL FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS

Parents/guardians, are you curious about financial aid? Admissions processes? We have answers! Join us for a 45-minute information session during player combine testing and ask any questions you may have regarding your child's interest in playing college hockey. The parent/guardian panels will take place at the following times:

10:30 A.M. - Parents/guardians of student-athletes in GROUP 1 or GROUP 2

12:15 P.M. - Parents/guardians of student-athletes in GROUP 3 or GROUP 4

COLLEGE HOCKEY FAIR

Student-athletes and their families will have an opportunity to meet with various school and team representatives from several ACHA programs and learn more about the opportunities to play collegiate hockey. Colleges will have tables set up at MedStar Capitals Iceplex, and players can sign up to receive more information from various programs.
