Young Stars Live-Blog: Day 5

by Derek Jory / Vancouver Canucks

Welcome to the blog, my name is Derek Jory and I'll be your word slinger throughout the 2011 Young Stars Tournament. I'll use this space to keep you up-to-date like no one else on crucial must-know information from Penticton, BC, such as: how sandy the beach is, if the Ogopogo has a moustache or not and how my fantasy football team (The Brady Punch) is coming together. Oh, and some stuff about hockey too - if there's time.

If you've got any questions, comments, complaints or if any Nigerian kings need my help to access a large sum of money in a foreign bank account, money that we would then split 50/50, email me. I'll also be live-tweeting every Vancouver Canucks Young Stars game via @CanucksGame, where zany is served up, free of charge, 140 characters at a time.

Let's do this.

12:01 p.m. -- Here we go again. Day 5 is underway as the Canucks prospects are back on the ice for practice. Billy Sweatt is not on the ice, the one player I wanted to talk with today. Perfect.

12:27 p.m. -- Who wants to get to know Adam Polasek? I see your hands up and I appreciate your enthusiasm. We've got a live chat set up with Polasek scheduled for roughly 2:15 p.m. PST today, join in the fun at to ask the 20-year-old Canucks prospect your question.

3:10 p.m. -- Where does the day go? Just wrapped up the live chat with Polasek, it went extremely well and Adam really enjoyed all the questions, especially the one about why he never smiles. I can confirm that he smiles AND laughs!

3:11 p.m. -- I talked to Billy Sweatt post-practice today about some sadness that recently occurred in his lift - the ending of Entourage. I'll have that story up asap, it's a gooder.

3:46 p.m. -- Got an email from Denis Roussel, father of prospect Antoine Roussel. He wanted to point out that we left his son off the Canucks roster for last night's game, the game his son ended with the overtime game-winning goal. It was a technical issue, not a slap in the face, but we agreed that we'll leave Antoine off the roster and maybe he'll light the lamp again if he's in the line-up tomorrow?!?

5:11 p.m. -- This just in: Billy Sweatt may be shutdown for the rest of the Young Stars Tournament as a precautionary measure.

8:04 p.m. -- Well there goes another day. I've spent the last three hours in my hotel room trying to write, but oh so tired from last night's shenanigans. That led to a nap, which led to a revitalized Derek and a completed story. No hard-hitting news here, but if your an Entourage fan, it's a must read.

8:08 p.m. -- Penticton is easily one of the most beautiful places in the world. There hasn’t been a lot of time for exploring this week, but even without looking for splendor, it’s everywhere. That makes hearing how Billy Sweatt spent his post-game Monday night noteworthy...Spoiler Alert.
