Vancouver, BC – The Canucks Centre for BC Hockey, Danone and BC Hockey are pleased to announce that the Westside Bantam Warriors Minor Hockey team from Westbank, BC has won the Danone SuperSkills Contest to join the Canucks on-ice at the January 17th SuperSkills competition. The contest, sponsored by Danone was open to all Pee-Wee and Bantam registered minor hockey teams in British Columbia. The Westside Warriors’ exciting day includes meeting the entire Canucks team, an autograph signing, a visit to the Canucks dressing room, and the opportunity to join the Canucks on the ice for the SuperSkills competition. Players will be able to test out their skills against the Canucks in the friendly competition.
“We’re thrilled at the response to this contest and look forward to sharing the ice with the Warriors,” said Canucks Sports and Entertainment President and General Manager Mike Gillis. “Minor hockey is an integral part of our community and we are excited to be able to offer our support by having a minor hockey team join us for the SuperSkills event.”
BC Hockey registered PeeWee and Bantam teams were able to enter the contest with a purchase of a Danone product through the Canucks Website. Teams were also asked to submit their favourite Vancouver Canucks memory. More than 225 teams from across British Columbia entered, with the winning team being chosen through random selection. The Westside Warriors were not the only winners in this contest; the Vancouver Canucks also rewarded other randomly selected entries to receive SuperSkills tickets for their entire team. The annual Canucks SuperSkills is a fun-filled, exciting family event that will put the Vancouver Canucks up against each other as they battle it out in the hardest shot, fastest skater and other head to head on-ice competitions.
