The adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies to a lot of things in life, but when it comes to providing unparalleled Vancouver Canucks coverage, good is never good enough.
Canucks.com recently underwent its second redesign in as many years and the upgrades were substantial.
As you can see from the sleek new homepage, we set the flux capacitor for 21st century and jolted CDC into a world of superior colours, graphics and pictures.
As aesthetically pleasing as it is, Canucks.com is also twice the beast it once was in terms of layout, navigation and content – and it will continue to improve as the season draws closer.
In addition to adding a Canucks.TV link to the drop down menus at the top of the page, we're also in the process of reorganizing all 10 headings to ensure absolute efficiency in finding what you're looking for.
The effectiveness of the search box has also been revamped, meaning it actually works now.
In terms of content, the amount of stories and videos that will be brought to you on the homepage alone will be overwhelming, and when a feature or video is posted, links to oodles of related content won't be far away.
By now most people have hopped on board with this whole Internet fad, but a lot of people still get entangled in the World Wide Web. To elevate this, we've added an FAQ bar to the top of most pages.
Clicking on FAQ in the top right-hand corner will lead to a series of commonly asked questions with the appropriate answers. This will hopefully shed some light on the answers you're in search of.
Once the new social networking platform is launched later this month, users will also be able to navigate directly from the page header to the profile of the person in charge of the given department and interact with them in real time.
You've got questions. We've got answers.
One question surely on a lot of fans minds is about the message boards and how they're changing.
For the time being they'll remain untouched, but in late August we will be launching the new Kickapps platform that will include message boards. We have decided not to take down the IPB boards, instead running them both concurrently so users can get a feel for the best option moving forward.
Kickapps is a full social networking platform for Canucks.com that will allow users to build profiles similar to Facebook, upload photos and videos, write blogs, and interact with the entire NHL fan base.
Think big and then double it.
That's what we did with the new Canucks.com because it's our obsession as well.
As you may have already noticed from navigating around, the new Canucks.com still has a few tweaks and glitches to be worked out, but everything will be up and running smoothly in no time.
Thank you for your patience and enjoy.
