by Staff Writer / Vancouver Canucks
Vancouver, BC - The Vancouver Canucks announced today that once again, a carryover of unclaimed 50/50 funds from the 2006-07 season will be added to the jackpot for the Vancouver Canucks home opener against the San Jose Sharks on October 5th. A total of $33,682 will be added to the 50/50 prize. Last year during the home opener the lucky winner took home $155,133.00.

In addition to the prize of $33,682, half of the proceeds from 50/50 ticket sales on October 5th will be added to the grand prize. Last season, an average of $24,750 was given to winners at each Vancouver Canucks home game.

Vancouver Canucks 50/50 draws sees half of the draw’s total earnings given to one lucky fan whose purchased 50/50 ticket matches the number drawn. The other fifty percent of the proceeds are donated to the Canucks for Kids Fund in support of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

The Canucks for Kids Fund is the Vancouver Canucks charitable arm that designates its resources to assist charities who support children’s health and wellness, foster the development of grassroots hockey and facilitate and encourage education in British Columbia. In 2007, the Canucks for Kids Fund supported Canuck Place with over $2.1 million through events and programs and the generous support of Canucks fans. Canuck Place Children’s Hospice offers specialized care for BC children living with life-threatening conditions.
