Preview: Canucks vs. Flames

Vancouver's four-game homestand ends tonight. Bring it on Calgary.

The Vancouver Canucks face off against the Calgary Flames for the first of four meetings this season. The Canucks visit Calgary on Nov. 7 and Dec. 9 and conclude the season series at Rogers Arena on Dec. 17. 

Vancouver is 4-5-1 in their last 10 games against Calgary (3-2-0 in their last 5). 

Following tonight's game, the Canucks embark on their first road trip of the season that sees stops in Ottawa (Oct. 17), Boston (Oct. 19), Buffalo (Oct. 20), Detroit (Oct. 22) and Minnesota (Oct. 24).



-Tonight marks Brandon Sutter's 600th NHL game and Sam Gagner's 700th NHL game.

-Sutter made his NHL debut on Oct. 10/08 while Gagner made his NHL debut a season earlier on Oct. 4/07.

-Thomas Vanek is also 1 point from amassing 700 for his career. He is already the highest scoring player of Austrian descent in NHL history and with his 700th point will become just the 49th player of European descent to register 700 or more points in his career.

Daniel Sedin scored his first of the season 7:25 into the first period on the power play...Chris Tanev made it 3-2 with a point shot at 12:43 of the third period...Brock Boeser netted an assist on the first goal in his season debut...Thomas Vanek and Sam Gagner also drew assists...Jacob Markstrom made 16 saves.



Through 3 games, Derek Dorsett is in the top-30 in the League in hits per game with 3.0     

Through 3 games, Henrik Sedin ranks fifth in the NHL in faceoff win percentage with 66.7% (min. 20 faceoffs)     

Chris Tanev's goal on Oct. 12 vs WPG and Oct. 10 vs OTT marked the first time in his career he has scored in consecutive games     

With his 68th shootout attempt on Oct. 10 vs OTT, Thomas Vanek moved to 24th all-time in NHL history in shootout attempts. His 28 shootout goals ranks him t-19th in NHL history.

The Canucks rank fifth in faceoff win percentage at 55.4%
