Tanev lights the lamp in wild Canucks comeback

Jannik Hansen and Kevin Bieksa scored their first goals of the season, but it was Chris Tanev who stole the show Monday night in Edmonton scoring his first career goal, an overtime winner no less, as the Vancouver Canucks erased a 2-0 deficit to beat the Oilers 3-2.

With 20 seconds left in overtime, Daniel and Henrik Sedin played give-and-go, the puck worked its way out to Tanev at the point and his one-timer was not to be denied beating Devan Dubnyk before he was joyously attacked by teammates.

The Oilers held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes before the teams traded goals in the second period; Hansen’s first goal, assisted by Jordan Schroeder and Chris Higgins, made is 2-1 heading to the third.

Keeping things dramatic, the Canucks didn’t tie the game up until 2:17 remained on the clock when Bieksa snapped home his first goal and point of the season, from Hansen and Mason Raymond.

In overtime a Roberto Luongo penalty shot save on Taylor Hall opened the door for Tanev to score the first of many career goals.

Luongo finished with 23 saves backing the Canucks to their third straight win.

Only in Edmonton will you hear DJ Darude's Sandstorm played...twice.

Jory's Jewels

Tweet of the Night - "I used to make that guy breakfast!!!!! Anyone wonders he likes his eggs over easy and with bacon!" - @eddielack. You get an assist on the goal, Eddie, don't worry.
Nifty at 50 - As observed by @patersonjeff, the Oilers have nine guys wearing uniform numbers over 50. The Canucks, on the other hand, have none. Montreal has 12. Now you know.
Unbeatable - Roberto Luongo has now stopped seven of the last eight penalty shots/shootout attempts faced this season; he's thwarted 18 of 21 career penalty shots.
30 years ago - February 4, 1983: Vancouver wisely traded Anders Eldebrink to the Quebec Nordiques, in exchange for John Garrett. Big ups to @HockeyLegends for the fact.
