The Canucks rookie scored the shootout game-winner as the fourth Vancouver Canucks shooter in a 2-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks Friday night at Rogers Arena.
Schroeder didn’t go for style points on his first career shootout attempt as he simply blasted the puck through Corey Crawford; Roberto Luongo, who had 27 saves on the night, finished with four stops in the shootout stopping Nick Leddy to earn the Canucks their fourth win of the season.
Alex Edler finished a gorgeous tic-tac-toe play 15:42 into the first period to open the scoring before Patrick Kane tied things up at 9:42 of the third.
This was the fourth time the Canucks have gone to a shootout in eight games, and it came with Vancouver wearing special ‘V’ patches to honour the Vancouver Millionaires.
