The Goods: Canucks dominate Ducks

by Derek Jory / Vancouver Canucks

Canucks shine in first road test

Mason Raymond scored twice, Daniel and Henrik Sedin each had two points and nine Vancouver Canucks hit the scoresheet in a convincing 5-0 road win over the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center Friday night.

Daniel Sedin and Raymond scored on the power play in the first period, Aaron Volpatti’s first of the season put the Canucks up 3-0 in the second, before Zack Kassian scored for the third straight game, on the power play, to ice this contest early in the third. Raymond put the cherry on top with his third goal of the season late in the frame.

Not to be forgotten is Cory Schneider, who earned his fifth career shutout (second in Anaheim) with a 30-save effort in Vancouver's second consecutive win.

Respect to both teams for raising their sticks and saluting the fans pre-game.

Jory's Jewels

Tweet of the Night - "SCHNEIDERMAN with a big ol' beautiful SHUTOUT as Canucks smoke the Ducks 5-0." - @BBonCanucks. Glad you're back tweeting Brent, we missed ya.
Move over Steamer - Henrik Sedin played his 896th game in a Canucks uniform Friday in Anaheim, tying him with Stan Smyl for second all-time behind Trevor Linden's 1,140 games played.
FIGHT! - Aaron Volpatti's fight with Matt Beleskey, the second Canucks fight of the season, continued the NHL's trend of dropping the gloves. Fighting is up 85% after four games compared to last season. Boom.
Schroeder's apple - Jordan Schroeder played 14:26 in his second game and he assisted on Mason Raymond's second goal to earn his first career point. He's now the highest scoring #45 in Canucks history.
