Training camp is over, I’m actually on the bus headed back from Whistler as I write this. What a great experience these four days were. It was a lot different this year than last year and I feel like I learned a lot.
Just being able to compete with these guys and skate on the same ice is great. They work so hard; Bieksa and the Sedins, Edler and Hamhuis, these guys have a tremendous work ethic. When they’re on the ice, they’re so focused and you can really see they’re trying to get better everyday.
Today was cool getting to skate with a lot of the top guys like the Sedins and Vrbata, and we got into a lot of battles. I had a good battle with one of the Sedins, not sure which one it was. No, I can’t tell the Sedins apart, not a chance. I’ve tried. I’ve wanted to go up to one of them and either call them Henrik or Daniel, but I’m not confident enough!
Tuesday will be great as we play our first exhibition game (well games really, half the club is in Vancouver, half the team goes to San Jose and we both play that night); I’m part of the Vancouver group and as my luck would have it, my dad’s in town for business right now so it looks like he’ll get to see the game. That will be a very special experience for me, I hope we play well, get the win and maybe I’ll even snipe a goal? Who knows!
