NHL Commercial Shoot

by Staff Writer / Vancouver Canucks

Following practice last Thursday, on March 9/03, the camera crew from the NHL came to General Motors Place to shoot a series of hockey commercials. Trevor Linden along with Ed Jovanovski, and Anson Carter shot individual short commercials with the NHL, each set in a different theme.

For Trevor's shoot, the NHL wanted him to look like a serious, hard-worked athlete who had just finished playing an intense hockey game. Trevor was little cold during the shoot since they had him strap on packs of ice on his shoulder, elbow, and both knees.

Ed Jovanovski's shoot looked as though it was pretty strenuous on the knees aswell. The NHL had Ed crouch down on the ground for long periods of time for his shoot in the hallway outside the dressing room.

The final shoot was set in the Canucks gym and featured Anson Carter who was told to lift some weights before the shoot in order to look pumped up. Carter joked around with Canucks photographer, Jeff Vinnick, and started pumping the mini Stanley Cup that the NHL had brought along as a background prop. As part of the commercial, Anson Carter had to break two sticks in half, which the NHL had provided for him. With only two sticks to break this meant that the pressure was on for Carter who had just two chances to get the shoot right.
